CEO of MidAtlantic Packaging
Julie Rotuno is a second-generation business leader, airforce veteran wife, mother of two girls and the CEO of MidAtlantic Packaging, a company built on the principles of entrepreneurship, resilience and innovation. With a background in education and a passion for empowering others, Julie is dedicated to mentoring and nurturing teenagers interested in entrepreneurship. Her journey into the family business was unconventional. After a career in teaching, she found herself without a clear professional path. With no immediate job openings at the family company, she took it upon herself to contribute in any way possible—starting by painting the office. A few months later, an opportunity arose, and she officially joined the business, beginning a career that would span nearly two decades and countless leadership roles.
Julie grew up witnessing the dedication her parents poured into their business, which was founded before she was born. While they never pressured her to join, their entrepreneurial spirit deeply influenced her.
Her rise to CEO was built on hands-on experience, having worked in nearly every department before taking the helm. From warehouse operations and purchasing to customer service and production, Julie learned the intricacies of the business firsthand. Under the mentorship of her mother for five years, she honed her leadership skills, focusing on communication, education, and strategic decision-making. Since joining the company, she has helped shape its transformation, shifting revenue from 60% plain stock sales to 75% custom packaging—adapting to market demand and positioning the company as an industry leader.
Julie is a self-proclaimed “packaging nerd” with a mission to help businesses see packaging as an extension of their brand. Whether it’s a boutique startup or an established retailer, she believes that packaging is an emotional and strategic component of the customer experience. From the iconic Tiffany’s blue box to the luxurious presentation of a Victoria’s Secret bag, she educates businesses on how thoughtful packaging choices can elevate their brand perception and customer loyalty. With a keen eye for trends, a commitment to sustainability, and a deep understanding of consumer behavior, Julie continues to drive MidAtlantic Packaging forward while inspiring others to think outside the box—literally and figuratively.
