Medical Director, Winona

Dr. Cathleen Brown, fondly known as “Dr. Cat”, is a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist who was raised in Philadelphia, graduated from Shippensburg University in PA and received her DO degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, both on full academic scholarships from the United States Army. Upon graduation from medical school, she entered active duty in the Army and completed her OBGYN residency training at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. Thereafter, she served in Army bases in El Paso, Texas and Fort Bragg, North Carolina as an active-duty Army OBGYN physician, offering vital care to female soldiers and dependents of active-duty soldiers. Working as an Army OBGYN physician deeply enriched her understanding of women's unique health needs, and Dr. Brown was honorably discharged from the Army after 12 years of meritorious service in 2016. After her Army career, she continued to work as a generalist OBGYN in the private sector and as a government service physician until 2019, when she moved back to Pennsylvania to embark on a career as an OB laborist. Dr. Cat has also been instrumental in educating physicians in training about women’s health throughout her career mentoring and teaching residents. Currently, she serves as the medical director for Winona and also works as an OB laborist physician at Jefferson Abington hospital just outside Philadelphia, PA.

To provide much-needed support, Dr. Cat actively hosts monthly Winona Webinars along with our chief medical officer, Dr. Mike Green. Through these, Dr. Brown answers questions and addresses concerns about menopause symptoms and treatment options. Dr. Brown also helps to curate our educational content on Winona’s website by providing medical review of articles. Most recently as Medical Director at Winona, Dr. Brown has represented Winona on several podcast interviews, at the She Leads conference in New York City in Fall 2024, and will also be featured in an upcoming documentary series, Four Days, alongside other menopause experts, which was recorded in June 2025 and should be airing soon!

Dr. Cat is committed to educating patients and helping women take control of their own health and lives. It is her goal not only to care for women, but to empower them with knowledge about their own health, and help them become advocates for themselves and their families. You can follow her on various social media platforms such as Instagram, Tiktok, Linked In, and Facebook! Outside of work, Dr. Brown spends her time cultivating her home gardens, volunteering at her children' s elementary school, concert-going, learning languages, traveling, and spending time with her 3 amazing children.
